3500/25-01-01-CN Honeywell today announced the introduction of augmented reality to its Immersive Field Simulator, a platform that uses the digital twin of a physical facility to provide targeted, on-demand training for the industrial workforce.
Honeywell’s new Immersive Equipment Views is an iOS app for the iPad that combines real-world industrial environments with digital features and scenarios to provide meaningful and practical out-of-class training. Industrial users can not only adopt pure virtual and mixed reality solutions, but also use tablets anywhere on site to safely train employees without the need for additional training facilities.
Leveraging augmented reality and automation to address workforce issues aligns with three strong trends in Honeywell’s portfolio – automation, the future of aviation and the Energy transition.
“As the industry faces the challenges of losing long-term experience3500/25-01-01-CN as veteran workforces retire, Honeywell’s immersive field simulation system provides a safe, interactive way to train at the same time as a mobile-first generation of employees.” “Honeywell is committed to helping customers and industrial workforces around the world drive value and efficiency,” said Pramesh Maheshwari, president of Honeywell Process Controls.
With the addition of Honeywell’s Immersive Field Device module to the immersive field simulation system, trainees are now able to troubleshoot and complete real-world tasks around the facility on the iPad, without time, physical space constraints, and at low cost, repeatable, large-scale capability improvements. For example, security scenarios that are difficult to simulate in reality, or important equipment troubleshooting and maintenance that require high costs but are not used frequently. In addition, users can scan the QR code on the machine to obtain detailed infor3500/25-01-01-CN mation about the components within the device and conduct more comprehensive learning at the model – and content-based education center.
