The Emerson/MOTOROLA MVME162 is a dual-height VME module with the MC68LC040 or optional MC68040 microprocessor. The MC68040 microprocessor has a floating-point coprocessor; the MC68LC040 does not. The MVME162 has 1MB, 4MB or 8MB parity-protected DRAM; 512KB SRAM (with spare battery); TOD clock (with spare battery); An optional LAN Ethernet transceiver interface with DMA, two serial ports (EIA-232-D and EIA-232-D/EIA-530); 6 tick timers with watchdog timer; Optional SCSI bus interface with DMA; VMEbus interface (local bus to VMEbus/VMEbus to local bus, with A16/A24/A32, D8/D16/D32 bus width and VMEbus system controller).

The MVME162LX 200/300 series is based on the MC68040 or MC68LC040 microprocessors. The -LC040 is a subset of the -040 family for low cost embedded controller applications and does not have a built-in mathematical coprocessor (FPU). The MVME162LX 200/300 series is available in various versions and its functions are listed in Table 1-1 on pages 1-5.
The V/0 on the MVME162LX200/300 series is routed through the front panel connector, and the board does not use a transition plate. These features also apply to other models of the 700/800 series 162LX board MVME162LX with serial port I/0 connections made up of four RU45 front panels! (For more information on serial communication interfaces, see the hardware description section of the 200/300 series version of the MVME162LX Embedded Controller Installation and Use manual.)

Various versions of the MVMF162LX200300 series come with 1mb or 4MB ODd-group standard protected DRAM, or 4, 8, 16, or 32MB ECC protected DRAM on the chip. Please set a warning about parity DRAM related issues; See Table 1-1 on pages 1-5. Also note that in the 700/800 series, parity protection for DRAM is not supported). These boards also come with 128 KB of SRAM(with spare battery) or 2 MB of SRAM(with spare battery) on the sandwich board. The MVME162LX 200/300 series also comes with a calendar clock (with backup battery), an optional LAN Ethernet transceiver interface, four serial connections with EIA-232-D interface, six tick timers with watchdog timers, four EPROM slots, 1 MB flash memory (one flash device), two NndustryPack (P) interfaces, optional SCSI bus interface with DMA, and optional VMEbus interface (local bus to VMEbus/VMEbus to local bus, with A16/A24/A32D8/D16/D32 Please note, There is currently a model of VMEbus that does not offer additional options.
