The DC power supply of the rack can enter the sub-rack through the DC input card. The power supply can be supplied by the user from an external nominal 24V DC power supply. The DC power supply is routed to all cards in the rack through engineering cards and subrack backplanes and is protected by fuses on the DC input cards. There is a two-part terminal TB1 that is used to help remove the card without having to disconnect each connected wire.

In installations using more than eight 5704 catalytic cards, to prevent excessive current flowing along the backplane of the rack, it is recommended that the control card be powered through its associated four-relay interface card and the DC input card used only to power the engineering card.

Backup backup battery power can also be connected to a secondary DC input connection if required.

PSU and AUX connections are isolated from each other by diodes.

The DC input card also provides RFI filtering and reverse polarity protection.
