PROSOFT 1454-9F is an industrial communication module produced by ProSoft Technology, which is a Modbus master/slave network interface module for SLC 5/02 M/M1 processors or newer models. The module can be mounted to the 1746 backplane, and when mounted to a local rack or extension rack, this module receives a valid configuration. It does not support installation to remote I/O racks.

The 1454-9F module has an RJ45 commissioning and configuration port with a DB-9M cable and operates only with the RS-232 standard. It also has two RJ45 RS-232/422/485 application combo ports. In addition, the module is equipped with LED indicators for displaying module status, backplane transmission status, application status, serial activity and error status.

The PROSOFT 1454-9F module enables any compatible SLC 500 processor to easily interface with Modbus-enabled devices and host instruments. It acts as an I/O module between the MODBUS network and the SLC 500 baseboard, performing asynchronous data transfers and providing a register size of 5,000 words. The communication adapter specifically supports foreign equipment data concentrators, pipelines and offshore platforms, food processing, mining, pulp and paper, and SCADA communication applications.

The PROSOFT 1454-9F module is suitable for a variety of industrial applications such as process control, discrete control, power systems, oil and gas, chemicals and water treatment. It supports ladder logic for setting up data transfer between processor and module, and can build configuration data from configuration text files downloaded to Modbus master/slave interface modules. The module has a current load capacity of 800 MA when operating at 5.1 volts DC.
