3500/25 is an enhanced Keyphasor module developed by Bently Nevada. It is a semi-tall dual-channel module for transmitting Keyphasor signals to monitoring modules in 3500 racks. When the Keyphasor mark on the shaft is aligned with the Keyphasor sensor, the module detects alignment using a magnetic pickup or proximity probe and converts the input signal into a digital Keyphasor signal.
3500/25 Function Description
The 3500 Mechanical protection system can accept up to four Keyphasor signals for a regular setup, and up to eight signals for a paired configuration.
One or more event pulses per turn of a rotating shaft or gear (called key confidence signals) can be used to accurately detect timing.
As a result, the shaft’s rotational speed and vector characteristics, such as 1x vibration amplitude and phase, can be measured using 3,500 monitoring modules and external diagnostic tools.
Enhanced Keyphasor module
The Enhanced 3500 system module is called the Enhanced Keyphasor module. While maintaining full backward compatibility with existing Keyphasor modules in terms of shape, fit, and functionality for use in legacy systems, it provides higher Keyphasor signal processing capabilities than previous designs. The revised 149369-01 module completely replaces the Keyphasor module PWA 125792-01.
Whenever a Triple modular redundancy (TMR) application requires a system Keyphasor input, the 3500 system should use two Keyphasor modules. In this setup, modules operate in parallel to provide primary and secondary key phasor signals to other modules in the rack.
Systems with more than four key phasor inputs can use pairing arrangements if there are no more than four primary phasor input signals.
3500/25 surgery
The pairing configuration requires two consecutive monitoring positions in either the upper/lower half slot position or two half slot positions. The four Keyphasor modules will provide four output channels and accept four primary input channels and four alternate input channels (one per module).
It is also possible to set up three Keyphasor modules, two coupled and one unpaired. Users can configure a single unpaired Keyphasor in this way (order two 2-channel or one 1-channel and one 2-channel option)
Isolated Keyphasor I/O module
Isolated Keyphasor I/O modules are suitable for situations where many devices are connected to Keyphasor signals at the same time and where isolation from other systems, such as control systems, is required.
While the isolated I/O module is primarily designed for magnetic pickup applications, it is compatible with Proximitor* applications and provides isolation as long as an external power supply is provided.
The main goal of this I/O module is to measure axis speed rather than phase. This module can provide phase measurement, but introduces a greater phase shift than the non-isolated I/O version. Creating a once-per-turn event signal from multi-event inputs per turn, field-upgradeable firmware, and asset management data reporting are examples of enhanced product capabilities.
Input signal specification
Magnetic pickup or proximity probe sensors can send up to two sensor signals to each Keyphasor module. Non-isolated I/O modules have input signals ranging from + 0.8V to 21.0V, and isolated I/O modules have input signals ranging from + 5V to -11V.
Signals beyond this range are restricted internally by the module. Passive magnetic pickups (3.3 Hz) require shaft speeds in excess of 200 rpm. Magnetic pickup or proximity probe sensors can send up to two sensor signals to each Keyphasor module. Non-isolated I/O modules have input signals ranging from + 0.8V to 21.0V, and isolated I/O modules have input signals ranging from + 5V to -11V.
