Function description
The 5463-602 is a sensor input module developed by Woodward. The sensor module is used as an input interface to communicate with external sensors. In this module, you will find two isolated RS-422 communication ports, each consisting of a pair of differential transmitting lines, a pair of differential receiving lines, and a +15 V power connection. It is important that these two ports are electrically isolated from each other and from the rest of the module.

Data acquired from an external source is transferred to the main CPU module via dual-port RAM on the VME bus.
Notably, a single pressure sensor interface module is capable of connecting up to eight sensors.
Installation is a breeze, as the module can easily slide into the card guide in the controller case and plug directly into the motherboard. The module is securely held in place with two screws – one at the top and the other at the bottom.
In addition, the two handles located at the top and bottom gently move the module so that the board is just detached from the motherboard connector when switching, facilitating easy module extraction.

Terminal resistance of RS-422 receiving port:
The sensor module is equipped with an optional terminal resistor. It is important to install these resistors on the RS-422 receiving port to optimize signal integrity.
Specifically, these terminal resistors should be installed on the last unit at either end of the network to prevent signal reflection.
Set the terminal resistance on the sensor interface module:
To install terminal resistors on the sensor interface module, follow these steps – Turn off switches 3 and 4 for each channel. Leave switches 1 and 2 on.
This configuration ensures the correct termination of each channel, which improves signal quality and reduces the risk of signal interference.
Installing the sensor module:
The physical installation of the sensor module is very simple. These modules are designed to easily slide into the card rails inside the control case.
Ensure that the module is oriented correctly and aligned with the connectors on the mainboard.
Secure the module in place:
To prevent any movement or disconnection during operation, use two screws to secure the module firmly in place.
One screw should be located at the top of the front panel and the other at the bottom.
Easy access with the module handle:
Conveniently located on the top and bottom of the module are two handles. These handles serve a dual purpose:
When switching outwards, they allow you to move the module slightly out of its housing, providing enough clearance for the board to detangle it from the motherboard connector.
When not in use, the handle is flush with the module, maintaining a compact and space-saving shape.
