Product description
The High-density Universal Input Module (HDVIM) 5503-279 has 34 channels for 2 cold end inputs and 34 analog inputs. Ten of the inputs are RTD inputs and the remaining 24 are thermocouple inputs. The thermocouple inputs are divided into two sets of 12 each, both of which will be isolated from the control common end, and the other set of 12 inputs. The specific current range for the thermocouple input is 0-24 mA, configured to 4-20 mA. Note that these first thermocouple inputs must be configured in pairs.

The board does have the ability to be used in redundant and simplex systems. When the 5503-279 board is in a simplex system, it will be connected to two 34Ch HDVIM FTM units via dual high-density 60-core analog cables. The purpose of the two FTMS is to allow easy access to all inputs on the module.

When the board uses a 4-20 mA input, it will use a 100 ohm resistor. Inputs to the 5503-279 board will be used with either a two-wire self-powered/isolation sensor or a loop-powered/underground sensor. If these inputs are used with non-isolated devices, a loop isolator is strongly recommended in order to disconnect the current path.

The main manuals used for this board are the 26166V3 and 26167V1 manuals. The board used with these manuals indicates that it is available for MicroNet Simplex, Plus, and TMR chassis configurations. In the 26167V1 manual, Chapter 8.8 provides several diagrams that mark configuration examples, wiring, and analog interface wiring.

Alarm systems can be set up to operate with the 1042 and 559 operator interfaces or to connect to remote computers via email (see Communications, email alerts). Up to 240 alarm points per controller can be divided into 20 groups of 12.
