The IS200EXHSG3AEC is a GE Industrial Systems PCB (printed circuit board) component designed as part of the EX2100 excitation control family. The EX2100 is one of GE’s most popular turbine management systems. The EX2100 series is GE’s TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) turbine control system that generates the excitation current needed to control AC terminal voltage and reactive volt-ampere. The EX2100 series is a fully static excitation control mode for generators on new and modified steam turbines, as well as gas and hydrogenerators. The IS200EXHSG3AEC is used as a static exciter high-speed terminal board in EX2100 systems.

Hardware tips and specifications

The IS200EXHSG3AEC is designed to include a solid-state relay driver, typically paired with a high-speed contactor. Other board components on the IS200EXHSG3AEC include a radiator assembly, seven relays, integrated circuits, transistors, capacitors, and resistors made of metal films and carbon composite materials.
The EXHS abbreviated board includes 3 D-shell vertical pin connectors and 8 plug connectors of different sizes. In addition, the board is equipped with multiple jumpers. These jumpers, while not customizable in nature, are added by the original manufacturer factory with initial voltage testing in mind.

A visual inspection of the IS200EXHSG3AEC board revealed that all of its PCB edges had been drilled, where these holes had been encircled with conductive material. Two corners of the board are cut off, and the front edge of the board has four small notches cut into its surface. All of these additional features can be classified as mounting awareness, as a series of notches and holes are used for mounting within a larger driver assembly.

While some misinterpreted parts were shrouded in mystery after the initial release, this EXHS printed circuit board comes with a series of labels that should clarify its functionality and compatibility. For example, each large relay on this model’s substrate is labeled with the industry-standard “K” relay nomenclature, followed by a specific relay code. With this in mind, relays such as K53B_C and K53A_M1 are present in the configuration of this product. Of course, relays are not the only components marked by the IS200EXHSG3AEC. This exciting H.S. relay driver uses a series of capacitors for energy storage, more than 50 in total, and more than 100 resistors.
