⇒Product introduction：

The IS220PPRFH1B is a PROFIBUS master gateway I/O module developed by GE under the Mark VIe series. It is a PROFIBUS DPV0 Class 1 master that maps the Mark VIe controller on an I/O Ethernet network to the I/O of a PROFIBUS slave device. The module consists of a processor board shared by all Mark VIe distributed I/O modules and an acquisition board equipped with a COM-C PROFIBUS communication module from Hilscher GmbH.

The PROFIBUS RS-485 interface is provided by the COM-C module via the DE-9 D-sub socket connector. It functions as a PROFIBUS DP master, supporting up to 125 slave stations, each with 244 bytes of input and output, with transfer rates ranging from 9.6 KBaud to 12 MBaud.
PPRF supports the following redundancy options:
Single I/O Ethernet connection for a single I/O packet (no redundancy)
A single I/O packet with two Ethernet connections for I/O
Hot backup Ethernet connection with two ports
Other IO packages share a dual I/O Ethernet connection design. However, two PPRFS are used in the hot backup system, one active, connected to the slave device via PROFIBUS, and the other passive, in standby mode, ready to take over in the event of a failure of the active master.
compatibility
The PPRF is installed on the PROFIBUS main Gateway terminal board (SPIDG1A), which also provides an electronic ID. Since the PROFIBUS connection is connected to the DE-9 D-sub socket connector exposed on the side of the PPRF, the interface to the PPRF is its only connection. The LED indicator on the PPRF provides visual diagnosis. The number of I/O packets used in the signal path is called the control mode:

Simplex uses one I/O packet and one or two network connections.
Hot backup uses two I/O packets, each with two network connections.

processor
I/O packages or modules feature specific acquisition boards connected to processor boards. When an input power supply is applied, the soft start circuit increases the available voltage on the processor board. The CPU restarts and shuts down, and the local power supply turns on successively. After completing the self-check routine, the processor loads the application code from a flash memory specific to an I/O package or module type. To verify that the application code, acquisition board, and terminal board match correctly, the application code reads the ID information of the board.

PROFIBUS Gateway hardware
The PROFIBUS DP (Distributed Peripheral) function is implemented by firmware in the PPRFs COM-C module based on Siemens ASPC2 technology. Although the COM-C module supports DPV1, the PPRF provides only basic DPV0 functionality, including configuring slave devices, periodically exchanging I/O data with them, and receiving PROFIBUS diagnostics.

Data flow between the PPRF and the controller
Fixed I/O and PROFIBUS I/O are two types of data flow between the PPRF and the controller. The few fixed inputs and outputs include those shared by all I/O packages, including L3DIAG and IOPackTmpr, but no application-driven outputs. The PPRF firmware contains a predefined set of fixed I/ OS. Depending on the hardware configuration provided by the application, PROFIBUS I/O is defined as the data that PROFIBUS exchanges between devices.
