Function description
The IS230TCISH6C is a DIN rail I/O module manufactured and designed by General Electric. It is part of the Mark VIe family used in GE’s distributed control systems. Mark VIe I/O modules are used in turbine and plant control systems. Its I/O modules reflect this diversity, having multiple types and being able to be distributed individually or in groups. The I/O module consists of an I/O package installed on the terminal board. The I/O suite includes a local processor running the QNX operating system and a data acquisition board. The patch board includes the field terminal and the passive circuit connecting the terminal to the I/O group. In case the passive circuit of the module fails, the terminal can be removed by connecting the field wiring.

Terminal: consists of two terminal, each terminal has two rows of screw connection. These terminals provide a convenient and secure way to connect wires and cables to I/O modules. These blocks are mounted on one long edge of the card and are held together by two screws to ensure the stability and reliability of the connection.
Connectors: On the other side of the board, there are three 37-pin female connectors. These connectors are used as interfaces to connect external devices or other components to the I/O module. They allow for seamless transmission of signals and data between modules and connected devices.

Chassis grounding: Equipped with factory made holes to be used as chassis grounding screws. These ground screws are specifically designed for SCOM (grounding) purposes and should have the shortest possible connection. Proper grounding is essential for electrical safety and can mitigate any potential electrical interference or interference that could affect the performance of I/O modules and connected devices.

I/O module features
The I/O module consists of an I/O package installed on the terminal board. The I/O suite includes a local processor running the QNX operating system and a data acquisition board. The patch board includes the field terminal and the passive circuit connecting the terminal to the I/O group.
In case the passive circuit of the module fails, the terminal can be removed by connecting the field wiring. Includes two barrier type pluggable terminals, each with 24 plugs. When using ring strips, each point can accept two 2.05 mm2 (0.081 in2) #12 AWG wires with 300 V insulation. Additional clamps for terminating bare wires are also available.
The center to center screw spacing is 9.53 mm (0.375 in). T-modules are usually mounted on a base and can accommodate multiple I/O packages. The box terminals on the Model S module can accept one 2.05 mm2 (0.081 in2) #12 AWG wire or two 1.63 mm2 (0.064 in2) #14 AWG wires with 300 V insulation at each point. Center to center screw spacing is 5.08 mm (0.2 in). Model S modules are DIN rail and base mounted with a single I/O package.

Install
Mounting on sheet metal brackets: The components are mounted on the sheet metal brackets together with the plastic insulators. Brackets provide structural support and protection for the components. Components and insulators are firmly fixed to the carrier to ensure stability during operation.
Mount on DIN rail: The sheet metal bracket (on which the components and insulators are mounted) is then mounted on the DIN rail. DIN rails are commonly used in industrial environments as a standardized method for installing control and automation components. DIN rails ensure safe and standardized installation of components.
In the cabinet: In some cases, circuit boards and insulator assemblies can be mounted on sheet metal assemblies and bolted to the cabinet. This approach allows for a more organized and compact installation within the cabinet, facilitating access to and maintenance of components.
Wiring connections: The connection to the component is usually done by connecting directly to two sets of 48 wiring terminals. 18 AWG wires are commonly used for these connections. The upper terminal group (called TB1) is connected to the relay portion of the board, while the lower terminal group TB2 is connected to the contact input circuit. These terminals provide a secure and reliable connection for necessary wiring.
Screw allocation and shield terminating: Screw allocation for both sets of terminals (TB1 and TB2) is the same as screw allocation on the relay board and contact input terminal board. This standardization ensures consistency and ease of installation. In addition, when using shielded cables, the shielding layer should be properly terminated using its own bracket or ground point to maintain proper grounding and minimize electromagnetic interference.
