Function description:

The IS410STCIS2A is a compact contact input terminal board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of the Mark VIe family used in GE distributed turbine control systems. The STCI board is a compact contact input terminal board designed for DIN rail or flat mounting. The STCI board accepts 24 contact inputs, which are supplied by an external power supply with nominal 24, 48, and 125 V DC excitation. Contact input features noise suppression to prevent surges and high frequency noise. STCI works with the Mark VIe system.

STCI and plastic insulators are mounted on sheet metal brackets and then mounted on DIN rails. STCI plus insulators can optionally be mounted on sheet metal assemblies and bolted to the cabinet. The contact input is connected directly to the terminal, usually using #18 AWG wire. The shielding layer shall be terminated on a separate bracket. There are two types of European terminals:

The STCIH1 has a permanently mounted terminal with 52 terminals
The STCIH2, STCIH4 and STCIH6 have right Angle connectors and accept a range of commercially available swappable terminals, with a total of 52 terminals
Controls:

The functionality and onboard signal conditioning are the same as TBCI, they are scaled for 24, 48 and 125 V DC excitation. Input excitation ranges are 16 to 32 V dc, 32 to 64 V dc, and 100 to 145 V dc. The threshold voltage is 50% of the excitation voltage. The contact sensing circuit is shown in the figure. Contact input current resistance is limited to 2.5 mA for the first 21 circuits and 10 mA for circuits 22 to 24. The 24 V DC power supply is currently limited to 0.5 A and uses a resettable polymer positive temperature coefficient fuse. The filter reduces high-frequency noise and suppresses the surgeon’s input near the signal input point. The discrete input voltage signal enters the I/O processor, which passes it through an optical isolator, converts it into a digital signal, and then transmits it to the controller.
