The Emerson/MOTOROLA MVME162 is a dual-height VME module with the MC68LC040 or optional MC68040 microprocessor. The MC68040 microprocessor has a floating-point coprocessor; the MC68LC040 does not. The MVME162 has 1MB, 4MB or 8MB parity-protected DRAM; 512KB SRAM (with spare battery); TOD clock (with spare battery); An optional LAN Ethernet transceiver interface with DMA, two serial ports (EIA-232-D and EIA-232-D/EIA-530); 6 tick timers with watchdog timer; Optional SCSI bus interface with DMA; VMEbus interface (local bus to VMEbus/VMEbus to local bus, with A16/A24/A32, D8/D16/D32 bus width and VMEbus system controller)

MVME162-212

The MVME162LX 200/300 series is based on the MC68040 or MC68LC040 microprocessors. The -LC040 is a subset of the -040 family for low cost embedded controller applications and does not have a built-in mathematical coprocessor (FPU). The MVME162LX 200/300 series is available in various versions and its functions are listed in Table 1-1 on page 1-1-5.

I/O on the MVME162LX 200/300 series is routed through front panel connectors, and the board does not use transition plates. These features also apply to other models of the 162LX board, namely the 700/800 series.

I/O connectivity for serial ports on the MVME162LX is provided by four RJ45 front panel I/O connectors.

Various versions of the MVME162LX 200/300 series feature 1 or 4MB of parity protected DRAM on the sandwich board, or 4, 8, 16 or 32MB of ECC protected DRAM. (Please note the notes in the feature summary regarding parity DRAM related issues; See Table 1-1 on pages 1-5; Also note that in the 700/800 series, parity protection for DRAM is not supported). These boards also come with 128 KB of SRAM (with spare battery) or 2 MB of SRAM (with spare battery) on the sandwich board. The MVME162LX 200/300 series also comes with a time clock (with backup battery), an optional LAN Ethernet transceiver interface, four serial connections with EIA-232-D interfaces, six tick timers with watchdog timers, four EPROM slots, and 1 MB Flash memory (one flash device), two IndustryPack (IP) interfaces, optional SCSI bus interface with DMA and optional VMEbus interface (local bus to VMEbus/VMEbus to local bus, with A16/A24/A32, D8/D16/D32 bus width and VMEbus system controller). Please note that there is currently a model that does not offer VMEbus to provide additional options.
