The NI sbRIO-9627 is a high-performance embedded controller from National Instruments that integrates a real-time processor, a user-reconfigurable FPGA, and a rich I/O interface. The controller is particularly suitable for industrial automation and high-volume OEM applications, offering flexibility, reliability and high performance.
The sbRIO-9627 uses the Xilinx Zynq-7000 series XC7Z020 All Programmable SoC as its processor, has two ARM Cortex-A9 cores, and runs at 667 MHz. It is equipped with 512 MB of non-volatile memory and 512 MB of volatile DRAM memory. It runs on the NI Linux Real-Time (32-bit) operating system, has a real-time clock accuracy of 5 ppm, and has a Flash reboot durability of 100,000 times.

In terms of network connectivity, the sbRIO-9627 offers two Ethernet ports, with an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port on the front panel and another Ethernet port via a RIO Mezzanine Card (RMC) connector. It supports 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiated communication rates and has a maximum cable length of 100 meters.

In addition, the sbRIO-9627 features multiple serial communication interfaces, including two onboard RS-232 ports and two RS-485 ports, as well as additional serial ports that are scalable via FPGA 3.3V DIO. It also has a CAN interface that uses an NXP PCA82C251T high-speed CAN transceiver that supports baud rates up to 1 Mbps.

For USB ports, the sbRIO-9627 provides a front-facing USB host port and a USB host/device port via RMC, compatible with USB 2.0 high-speed, with a maximum data transfer rate of 480 Mbps. It also has a front-facing SD card slot and an SD card interface accessible via FPGA 3.3V DIO, supporting SD and SDHC standards.

The SBRI-9627’s FPGA is partially based on Xilinx Zynq-7000 and has 85,000 logical units, 106,400 triggers, 53,200 6-input lookup tables, 220 DSP chips and 560 KB of usable block RAM, as well as 16 DMA channels and 32 logical interrupts.

In terms of analog input, the sbRIO-9627 offers 16 16-bit analog input channels, supports an input range of ±10 V, and has high precision ADC conversion capability. In terms of analog output, it has four 16-bit analog output channels, capable of output voltage of ±10 V, and has short-circuit to ground protection.

The sbRIO-9627 also includes three onboard temperature monitoring sensors to simplify the validation of thermal solutions, verifying thermal performance through digital or analog methods. In addition, it has a user replaceable long-term battery to maintain system clock information, with a typical battery life of 10 years in a live state and 2.5 years in storage at 55°C.
