The GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIAC-5595 Gb/s Reflective Memory Hub Assembly is a hosted hub designed to work with the GE Fanuc/VMIC 5565 series reflective Memory real-time networking products. Reflective memory hubs can automatically bypass ports when they detect signal loss or loss of effective synchronization mode, allowing other nodes in the network to remain operational. Since optical ports are implemented using small pluggable (SFP) transceivers, only the required ports need to be filled. The VMIAC-5595 SFP transceiver can be a combination of multi-mode (short range) or single dust (long range) transceivers. This feature allows for cost savings as well as system optimization in small networks. For larger networks, multiple VMIAC-5595 assemblies can be cascaded to allow hosting centers with up to 256 nodes. Each port regenerates a serial optical signal, eliminating insertion losses and cable attenuation. Signal regeneration also reduces jitter. The RS232 port enables the monitoring and control of reflected memory networks via a simple PC serial port. The Ethernet port feature allows users to use a local area network (LAN) or Web browser

The VMIAC-5595 monitor and control hub from great distances can be configured as a 19-inch 1U rack-mounted case or desktop case. Universal power supplies allow operation under almost any international power supply standard.

The VMIAC-5595 automatically bypasses the port when it detects the absence of a valid synchronization mode. There are three leds next to each port that visually indicate the port status. Additional status indications and modes of operation are available via serial or Ethernet ports.

The status information includes detecting the installed transceiver, detecting the signal (light), detecting the effective synchronization mode, and the port operating speed (2Gb/s). The control register allows the channel to bypass based on the absence of a single valid synchronization mode or multiple synchronization modes. The bypass can also be simply based on the loss of signal (light). In addition, each port can be manually forced to be active or bypassed regardless of the status indicator.
