This module is one of the VMIC/GE Fanuc modules and is designated as the VMIVME-5576 unit of the series. The board is designed as a reflective memory board capable of transmitting data. It does this by recording it to the onboard RAM. The reflective memory concept of these boards provides a very fast and efficient way to share data between distributed computer systems.

The VMIC/GE Fanuc series was developed by General Electric and manufactured by the company’s Industrial automation division, but these products were later purchased and developed by Abaco Systems.

The VMIVMVE-5576 interface module allows data sharing between 256 independent systems at rates of up to 6.2 MB.

The reflective memory boards in the VMIC/GE Fanuc family are designed to be configured for both shared and retained data, with up to 256 KB to 1 MB of onboard SRAM.

The reflected memory integrated into these VMIC/GE Fanuc models is programmed to interrupt multiple nodes simultaneously by sending it to byte registers. These signals synchronize system processes.

Node interrupts can track data. This ensures that data is received and then interrupts are enabled once received. The VMIVME-5576 unit is built so that no initialization is required before the interrupt function is used
