REM610A major challenge for process industry customers is to reduce the complexity and cost of installing and operating field instruments, infrastructure and systems. ABB CoriolisMaster and ProcessMaster flow meters with integrated new capabilities overcome this challenge by providing a single-cable solution using the ProfiNet protocol and power over Ethernet.
ProfiNet is an operational technology (OT) protocol that operates at the application layer. The ProfiNet protocol is integrated into ABB’s CoriolisMaster and ProcessMaster flow meters for seamless, real-time data exchange, alert and diagnostic monitoring. It also supports multiple configurations to ensure reliable, efficient communication between flowmeters and between local and wide area networks (Lans and Wans).
Harald Grothey, ABB’s global product Manager, said: “Remote monitoring is becoming increasingly important in many industries. ProfiNet’s high-speed communication capabilities, coupled with fast and reliable data transfer, mean that remote operators are able to make informed decisions in real time, reducing the need for oREM610n-site support. We are committed to finding ways to help our customers become more efficient. By reducing the need for separate routing, the new CoriolisMaster and ProcessMaster flow meters offer customers the means to move towards a more resource-efficient future.”
CoriolisMaster and ProcessMaster use the ProfiNet protocol to ensure reliable data transmission by providing stable and consistent power supply. This helps mitigate the risk of data transmission errors due to power supply fluctuations or outages and ensures that the data received by the control system is accurate and reliable. Real-time transmission of traffic and density information ensures that this information is always up to date.
Its built-in web server is easy to access, minimizing flowmeter setup and parameterization time. Users have access to all parameters, such as measurement ranges, units, IO configurations, validation and diagnostic Settings, and data logging capabilities. This reduces overall commissioning and engineering time, further reducing costs.
ABB’s Process Automation business provides automation, electrification and digitization soREM610lutions for industrial operations, addressing a wide range of customer needs, from energy, water and material supply to product manufacturing and transportation. With advanced technology and service expertise, ABB’s approximately 20,000 process Automation employees worldwide are committed to helping customers in the process, hybrid and Marine industries improve operational performance and safety, enabling a more sustainable and efficient future.
