X-A13201 985210213 Distributed systems can better integrate emerging information technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things, and have higher flexibility, larger and more complex. To meet the needs of industrial environments, Pulsch launched the FIEPOS eFused electronic protection series field distributed power supplies. Its separate, selectively protected load branches supply actuators and sensors in parallel, safely and without the need for cabinets. The IP67 protection grade power supply is also an alternative to IP20 power supply with additional electronic protection modules.
As more and more system components are installed directly to the field equipment, the power supply scheme for these components should also be distributed. With its field distributed series of power supplies, Pulsch offers a solution that reliably powers sensitive sensors, control components and actuators (such as electric motors) with a single power line, and provides individual power safety protection for each branch load in the field.
Long wires between the centralized electric control cabinet and the power-consuming device always mean high power losses. In order to deal with such problems, engineers have so far tended to use higher power supplies and larger wire diameters to compensate for power losses, which has also unwittingly added high additional costs. If users want to avoid these additional costs, the solution is to implement distributed distribution near the load in the field. However, distributed power solutions also present new challenges – especially when different types of components need to X-A13201 985210213 be powered through the same wire.

Securely isolate sensor and actuator branches
In industrial environments, distributed power distribution is a safety critical factor. Sensitive sensors continuously detect the real-time condition and usage of system equipment, while actuators ensure the operation of electromechanical loads. In the planning stage, the goal is usually to achieve the maximum availability of the system, and failure is an effective touchstone to test whether this goal has been achieved.
For example, if a faulty drum motor in a conveyor belt causes an overload, it is critical that the power supply completely stops powering all sensors and control components. Therefore, it is essential to achieve selective current distribution, that is, to provide separate and protected load branches for the sensor and the actuator.
To this end, power supply manufacturer Pulsch has developed a special version of the FIEPOS field distributed power supply – the FIEPOS eFused Electronic Protection series. Because each output consists of two separate channels for the sensor (Us) and the actuator (Ua), this version enables selective current distribution, protection and monitoring directlyX-A13201 985210213 in the field.

How the solution provides added value to users can be clearly demonstrated by a concrete example. The following diagram simulates an automated production line. In this application, three-phase FIEPOS power supplies power sensors and controllers, such as industrial RFID modules, multiple sensors, I/O hosts and cell towers, as well as 24V actuators, valves, etc. Due to the complexity of the load composition, the FPT500.245-018-103 of the FIEPOS eFused series was selected for this purpose, which can provide a continuous output power of 600W and a short time (lasting 5 seconds) peak power of 1000W. The power supply has two 4-pin 7/8″ plugs as output terminals and is integrated into the communication system via the IO-Link interface.
